由主唱/吉他/贝斯/鼓全包的全才美姑娘 Katie White 和鼓手/合声的 Jules De Martino 二人所组成 The Ting Tings，拥有绝对偶像外型的 Katie 和Jules，都在他们年轻岁月中网罗至泡泡糖流行队伍里头洗礼过。Katie 帮 Steps、Five 等团唱过开场，却没受到任何唱片公司的赏识，Jules 则摆脱商业束缚转战独立摇滚界。曾经与朋友共组三人团体 Dear Eskiimo，签至 Mercury Records 旗下，因为制作理念和乐曲方向彼此的冲突，最后仍沦落解约的命运。仍不放弃理想的 Katie 与 Jules，在2006 年成立 The Ting Tings，开始替一些私人派对献唱，精采的表演赢得乐迷好评，就连入选美国时代杂志“百大全球最具影响力人物”的制作大师 Rick Rubin ( U2、呛辣红椒、强尼凯许)，都闻风而至寻求进场门票！
在一次偶然的创作中诞生的作品“Great DJ”成为了 The Ting Tings 第一首广受欢迎的作品。后来 The Ting Tings 将自己的另一首作品“That's Not My Name”和“Great DJ”收录在一起发行了乐队的第一张单曲“Great DJ”，由于经费的紧张，这张单曲只印制了 500 张，结果首批发行很快就销售一空，并且这张单曲在英国的限量发行版也登上了 NME（英国著名音乐杂志）的“本周单曲”；而 The Ting Tings 挂在 Myspace 上的作品也得到了广泛的关注，被 MySpace 注册成员流览超过 170 万次。
在独立音乐界的成功使 The Ting Tings 开始得到主流音乐界的注目：他们被 BBC 评为 “ 2008 年十大必看”榜单中的第三名，在 BBC 一年一度的音乐调查“2008 的声音”中这样评论到：“他们现在已经成为了独立音乐团体中最可靠和最受赞誉的一队。”之后他们又得到 SONY BMG 旗下 Columbia 唱片的赏识，并与其签约。随后 The Ting Tings 带着他们的音乐开始登陆美国，沿着美国的海岸开始一系列的巡演；之后乐队的第一张大碟‘We Started Nothing’也随即诞生。
