Animal Collective是2003年在马里兰州巴尔的摩组建的美国实验流行乐队，其成员和创始人是Avey Tare（David Portner），熊猫熊（Noah Lennox），Deakin（Josh Dibb）和地质学家（Brian Weitz）。乐队的音乐的特点是工作室实验，声乐和声，以及各种类型的探索，包括怪胎民谣，噪音岩，环境无人机和迷幻。以“动物集体”名义发布的记录可能包括任何或所有成员的文稿。在Dibb的情况下，他经常从乐队的录音和表演中休息一段时间，他的休假并不构成完全假期。

Name comes from 'tearing' apart the name David (Davey), hence Avey Tare. It is not related to the word 'avatar'.[94]
Panda Bear (Noah Lennox; vocals, drums, percussion, samples, synthesizer, electronics, guitar)
Name comes from the panda he drew on tapes he made for friends of the first set of songs he ever wrote.[95]
Deakin (Josh Dibb; guitar, synthesizer, vocals, percussion, sequencer, sampler, drum pad, bass guitar)
Name comes from letters he used to write to other members under the name Conrad Deacon.[nb 4]
Geologist (Brian Weitz; electronics, samples, minidiscs, vocals, synthesizer, piano, percussion)
Name comes from the headlamp he wears in order to see the electronics during live shows.[97] A friend mistakenly assumed Weitz studied geology in college; however, he studied marine biology.[94]
