Richard John Thompson，OBE（1949年4月3日出生）是英国歌手，词曲作者和吉他手。
他于1967年9月成为费尔波特大会会员，成为录音艺术家。他继续定期撰写和录制新素材，并经常在世界各地的场馆现场表演。
汤普森于1991年荣获奥维尔·吉布森最佳声学吉他手奖。同样，他的歌曲创作为他赢得了伊沃尔·诺维罗奖，并在2006年获得了BBC广播电台的终身成就奖。许多不同的音乐家都记录了汤普森的作品。
汤普森被任命为英国帝国勋章（OBE）的官员，担任2011年新年荣誉音乐服务。 2011年7月5日，他被阿伯丁大学授予荣誉博士学位。
