I Had A Dream
The dream：
We were standing outside at night, and there was this little white light in the sky. It looked like a star. And Eric was next to me, and he said, “Is that Saturn? This little white light was going toward the moon, and it hit the moon, and the moon blows up and disintegrates. And I was freaking out, and they were all like, “Why are you freaking out so much?” And I was like, “The moon just exploded. It's GONE??!?!?!” And everyone was like, “So what? What's the big deal?” There's no more moon!!!
I had a dream that they blew up the moon
Nobody cared but me
To what will the poet write?
To whom will the singer croon?
Nobody cared but me
And then I fell on the ground and wept
Because it reminded me of when you left
I realized that after the moon was gone, the sky was so much darker, and now we could see dimmer lights that the moon was blocking. It turned out that there were other moons that we didn't know of around Earth. There were twelve moons in all—the top half was moon and the bottom half was clear, so you could see the inside of the moon. On the inside of each moon, there was a pyramid with hieroglyphics on it, and I thought, “These moons have clues about the origins of humanity in them.” I woke up and saw the clock said a little after 7 a.m. I went back to sleep and woke up later to find an email from my dad that said, “They just shot a rocket at the moon,” with a story from the New York Times, and it turns out that scientists shot a rocket at the moon that morning because they were trying to find out if the moon has water under its surface. I said, “Holy shit. They tried to blow up the moon to find out secrets about the origins of water, which is life, on Earth. And the article said that they shot the rocket at 7:30 a.m.—almost the exact moment as I was having this dream.
And then I fall on the ground and weep
And sing myself to a silent sleep
